Much of the interior remains unchanged — no cable or internet while growing up, Wi‑Fi only arrived a few years ago, and there’s no dishwasher or central heat and air. Those simple, analog rhythms — barefoot on the porch, singing to the trees — informed the mood of Middle of Nowhere. Musgraves says spotting a sign reading “Somewhere in the middle of nowhere” sparked a song and helped define the record’s theme of solitude, confidence and freedom; fans heard a preview at Coachella on April 18. She partnered with Zillow to share the home, admitting she even found her current house on the site and joked her therapist told her to "stay off Zillow."
